SCBA requests for cooperation of all its Hon’ble members to resolve or at least ease the mammoth problem of congestion in the court rooms and corridors, which has now reached unparallel gravity, so as to make it possible and comfortable to walk in the corridors and court rooms, for all of us. We request cooperation of all Hon’ble members and request them to counsel and guide their juniors, interns, clerks and clients appropriately so that we all can be comfortable in our place of work, which has become extremely congested, unbearable, uncomfortable and even accident prone. We also have to realize that this problem, which becomes more acute on Mondays, Fridays and even Tuesdays, can turn into a potential disaster during any emergency. i) All members are requested not to stand in the middle of the corridors, which should be kept vacant for walking/rushing lawyers only. ii) Members are requested to instruct their clerks to keep bags and files only in the designated racks kept in front of court rooms, this will free up the corners in the corridors for members who want to stand in the corridors and wait. iii) Members are requested to counsel their juniors and clerks not to crowd up the front portion of the court rooms, which should be kept vacant for allowing ingress and egress to lawyers who have to address the Hon’ble Court. iv) Members are also requested to counsel their juniors not to occupy the chairs inside the court rooms, and to observe fundamental professional courtesy to offer their chairs to senior members of the Bar. v) I also call upon the members to consider whether it will be necessary for us to have some self restraint so that only those members whose matters are about to reach for hearing, should be inside the court room, while rest of us can wait outside for our turn. Please find attached the letter dated 16.09.2014 written by us to the Secretary General, Supreme Court of India, seeking their cooperation in this regard. I also request the Hon’ble Members to give further constructive suggestions to tackle this humongous problem which is fast becoming a menace for all of us. Aishwarya Bhati Hony. Secretary
