SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE The new school year will be here before we know it! To make sure that every student has the tools needed to learn, the Chester County School District is partnering with local media to collect school supplies. If your business or organization would like to participate in this important drive, we invite you to place a collection box in your establishment so that members, employees and/or customers can drop off items they donate. Any box will do—just attach the “School Tools” flyer included in this email to the front of the box. This flyer also lists the supplies most needed by children in grades kindergarten-12th from all three attendance areas (Chester, Lewisville and Great Falls). The drive begins now and will run through Monday, August 5th. The tax free weekend is August 3rd-4th. The supplies collected in your box need to be delivered to the cafeteria at Chester Park Elementary Complex on either August 6th or 7th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. both days. Our volunteers will then sort through the donations and deliver them to our eleven schools. Teachers and guidance counselors will coordinate the distribution of materials to students in need of supplies. The News & Reporter, The Herald and WSOC Channel 9 have all agreed to run free advertisements/stories about this year’s supply drive. If your business wants to participate in the campaign by hosting a donation box, please send me your name, business/organization name, hours of operation, and address NO LATER than Wednesday, June 19th. This information will be added to the official “School Tools Partner List” that will run in the newspapers and be posted on the WSOC site. This list will give community members information on what to give and where to donate—i.e. your site! Thank you for your help and please feel free to contact me with questions or suggestions!
