SCHOOL UNIFORM TIME LOOMING. As England looms ever closer to going back to school - Scotland already has of course - parents and kids begin to turn their attention to school uniforms. We all have memories of the Uniform Run. Mine focus upon a rather absurd situation, aged 11. The Grammar School insisted upon a bloody daft cap for the new Intake, in its increasingly desperate attempt to look like , weh....a Grammar School!! Within a week or so, with like-minded souls, my Cap was conveniently lost, or rather thrown over a railway bridge. This clearly showed, in retrospect, signs of potential intelligence, as it would not have been wise to look like a posh buggar in my part of County Durham. There again, that potential intelligence was clearly never realised in relation to my haversack. It was painted black and white, with great care, and had NUFC emblazoned on it. The school was buried in the bloody heart of Sunderland town! Still, I suppose that aspect of my uniform did occasionally increase my running ability. THAT was definitely a Uniform Run...........................Happy Days!! ish....bry
