SCO Summit opens in Dushanbe The two day Summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has opened in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The summit specially focuses on regional security ahead of the planned withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan by the end of this year. Another key topic of the agenda is finalising a mechanism to accept new members. Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz is representing Pakistan in the summit. The SCO has six member state including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iran and Mongolia have observer status in the Organization.
