SCORES KILLED IN ZAMFARA GUNMEN stormed four villages in Tsafe Local government of Zamfara state and killed scores in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Investigation carried out by the Nigerian Tribune gathered that the affected villages were Kizara, Shemori, Danjibga, and Keita. ‘The hoodlums numbering about 100 first stormed Kizara village as early as 3.00am and began to attack the residence of the poor villagers with AK 47 rifles and in the process killed an undisclosed number of people including the District Head of Kizara, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim who was brutally murdered before his wives and children. Though our source was not certain why the gunmen unleashed the attacks on these villages, he opined that ‘For several months some suspected criminals had made it a point of duty to lay ambush for our women and children especially on market days. He disclosed further that “sometimes they molested our women but each time we lodged a complaint, before they get to them (hoodlums) they will vanish inside the bush,” sources declared. As of the time of filing the report, the state police commissioner, Mr Usman Gwary in company with other security chiefs had left the state capital to the troubled spots. When contacted, the PPRO, DSP Lawal Abdullahi said the state police commissioner had already left to the scene of the incident.
