SCOTT FREE ROAD CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION January 28, 2014 Public Works Commissioner Darryl Smalls said today that work to construct the temporary access for permanent closing of the Scott Free Bridge began on Monday. A section of Route 405 Scott Free Road adjacent to the intersection with the bridge will be closed to thru traffic until the temporary access is completed. Motorists that regularly utilize Scott Free Road as a bypass to the west will need to take an alternate route. Residents that live north of the bridge will need to access their properties from Route 40 Solberg Road to the north and residents that live south of the bridge will need to gain access to their properties from the south on Scott Free Road. No thru traffic will be allowed. The contractor is expected to utilize the Scott Free Road from the north to mobilize the equipment to the site and to deliver the necessary materials for this project. The contractor performing the work will be Island Roads Corporation and work is expected to be completed by February 28, 2014. Motorists and residents are expected to follow all posted signs and restrictions. We apologize for any inconvenience, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Any questions and/or concerns can be directed to Mr. Wystan Benjamin, Highway Program Manager, Office of Highway Engineering at (340) 776-4844.
