SCOUT lovers: Scout made it through his first heartworm injection - TopicsExpress

SCOUT lovers: Scout made it through his first heartworm injection yesterday. He got a mild sedative at 830am on Monday and the injection at 10am. The vet said at 1030am he started breathing heavily and he got a little pale so they put him in the oxygen cage for 2 hours and she gave a him a shot of dextramethasone which is a steroid and he turned back pink. This morning, they said he had a good night. He was drinking, eating and urinating good. While on the phone with the vet, she started laughing saying that his ears were raised up and he was tilting his head back and forth being a goofball. He is back at home with his foster AND FUREVER home with Emily Hardee, who has taken amazing care of this sweet boy for so many months. Scout has a tough 6 weeks ahead as the heartworms die off so keep him in your prayers. He will have a 2nd injection in a month.
