SCREEN PRINTING AND DIRECT-TO-GARMENT DIGITAL PRINTING COURSE - FEB 2015 We will be running an in-depth course on the screen printing process (both textiles and printing onto paper, board, caps etc) as well as a practical on Direct to Garment printing (Digital). We will explain and demonstrate the different mediums one can print on. Outline is as follows: 1. Technical Aspects of Mesh (screen fabric) Definition vs. mesh count – and why there are different mesh types available and the purpose there of. 2. Types of Positives (artworks) Examples 3. Registration Positioning on screen (textile & graphic) 4. Preparing a screen Degreasing De-coating 5. Coating a screen Demonstration as well practise and prepare your own screen 6. Exposing a screen Light source vs. Distance Washing out & touch up7. 7. Setting of screen 8. Squeegees - choice of hardness (shore), angle of squeegee,pressure of squeegee 9. Printing rules - demonstration and practise 10. Printing textile (demonstration and practise) as well cover graphic, specialised printing areas 11. Costing and marketing 12. Problem solving: questions & answers 13. Full demonstration on Digital Direct to Garment Printer as well as practical 14. Discussion on benefits and advantages of both printing techniques – screen printing as well as digital. 15. Explanation and discussion on INK TYPES that are available.
