SCREENWRITING TIPS: 6. Screenplays are a visual medium. You can only write what you can see or hear -- no characters thoughts, unless you can show them on the screen. 7. Screenplays are written in present tense. Again, this takes practice! 8. Use INT. or EXT. for interior / exterior in slug lines (scene headings). 9. Avoid using anything other than Day or Night in slug lines. 10. After slug lines, you must set the scene. There must be at least one line of action before a character speaks.
