SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY PHILIPPIANS 4:13 (KJV) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me This is the solemn witness born by the Apostle Paul while he was bound in chains, imprisoned for Christ in Rome. His confinement and frightening situation could have broken his spirit and left him in utter distress. He could have wept over his inability to do what he had been doing before his arrest and confinement in the high security prison in the palace of the Roman Emperor, Caesar, as he was not allowed to visit the churches which he loved so dearly, he was left to himself yearning for their fellowship. So he wrote, For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:8). He was also concerned about about the preaching ministry in those churches and their spiritual safety (Phil. 1:15,16; 27-30). He was also completely cut off from all that he had been praying and planning for the advancement of the Gospel. Regardless of all those heart-breaking deprivations, Paul was absolutely confident that his Saviour and Lord would continue to strengthen him to do all that he has been called to accomplish. He didnt fear that his present imprisonment will shut him away from divine purposes and power. Instead, he believed with all his heart that all that happened to him would lead him to new frontiers of the Gospel advancement. Earlier in this epistle, Paul comforted the Philippian Christians who were anxious about his arrest and confinement by reporting to them that the Lord has paved a way through his incarceration to new gospel frontiers. He wrote, But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel (Phil. 1:12). In the next verse, he explained that the palace (of Caesar) and its surrounding places have heard of his suffering for Christ. Obviously, the Lord gave him opportunities to explain his faith to the guards, officials, and workers whom he meet in the palaces prison. Thus the Gospel spread quickly through those who believed through Pauls testimony. Even within the palace some have turned to Christ, for Paul write at the end of this epistle that, all the saints in Caesars household joins him to salute the Philippian Christians (Phil. 4:22). Paul could not have devised a plan, so effective as this, to enter Caesars palace with the Gospel, for Caesar was a sown enemy of the Gospel. But Christ sent Paul into the palace as a prisoner to preach the Gospel. Christ can fulfill all His will concerning us, just as Paul testified. Theres nothing we cant do with Christ on our side. He gives us the strength to do all things, as long as we trust and believe on Him. Dear believer, Paul knew that that all things are possible through his faith in Jesus Christ. Do you have the same faith? Do you trust in the Lord? Do you have a relationship with Christ? Jesus is our Lord and Saviour, our fortress, our redeemer, our comforter. Hes our everything. Believe on Him and Hell strengthen you! Quote for the Day: Jesus is our life throughout the year!
