SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK Ephesians 4:7-14 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Lately, I have been meditating on the need for me as a Pastor to equip the saints for the work of the ministry instead of me doing all the work of the ministry. I believe its time we began to hear testimonies of the saving power of God being told more by members than Pastors, testimonies of the healing power of God because one prayed for his/her neighbor and a miracle happened to the glory of God. The work of the ministry is centered on Winning Souls, Discipling, Loving and training the disciples to run with the work. Paul said, And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2 This week I invite you to join with me as we raise a battle cry to the living God to raise a great army of the willing and obedient so that the work of The Lord be done. We need a people that are sold out to the work of The Lord. Our prayer meeting and worship services should be places of setting apart men and women such as Barnabas and Saul for this great work. Oh, we need a generation that is willing to endure hardship for the sake of the gospel for it’s not all the time that it shall be easy going dear friends for ministry is hard work. May you be one of those that will avail yourself so that the grace may flow through you. Can God and the local church Count on you? Where has your zeal and commitment for service gone beloved? This week purpose to touch his garment and spark a new fire and zeal.
