SCSO Announces Applications for POST Certified/Certifiable Deputy Sheriff’s The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that applications will be accepted for the position of Deputy Sheriff. This is open to Active Full-Time POST Certified and POST Certifiable TN Law Enforcement applicants. Applications will be accepted ON-LINE only beginning this Friday, October 3rd through Friday, October 10th 2014. Website address: https://jobs.shelbycountytn.gov The minimum qualifications for Deputy Sheriff POST Certified or POST Certifiable applicants are: 1. Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED Certificate. 2. Must be 21 years of age at the time of application. 3. Must be a US Citizen. 4. Possess a valid Driver’s License. 5. Be of high moral character. 6. “Not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States.” [TN POST Rule 1110-2-.03(1)(f)] 7. Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to, or entered a plea of no contest to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances. (Applicants will be screened for felony/misdemeanor record (POST). 8. Attend and successfully complete a State of Tennessee Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) approved basic police training academy, or otherwise meet minimum certification requirements of the POST Commission.
