SEA RUN TIME October marks the beginning of a new trout season. Spring for me is all about the sea runs until the kings show up mid November. If you havent already, hit the tidal water for your swinging fill - if you find a spot, theres dirty white baiters everywhere. Theres nothing cooler than seeing fish boil chasing whitebait. Dont go heavy, fish the surface column with light tips or even intermediate / floating tips. Often light sinks tips and a weighted fly will get down and get the job done. Colour choice, thats obvious - white / silver / and even black Sea runners dont act like river fish, they move around and hang in the shallows where the bait fish are. Start here, and work your way out. Lean to fish the water. Long casts arent really needed. Its also the perfect opportunity to put the Skagit / Scandi stuff away, and pull out the mid / long bellies
