SEA SIDES OF OCEANS We played with the young, small, sea-shores stones Her wet sea side sands And swam just at the banks of her oceans Where the wave’s ripples broke at the shores Spitting the deep seas sands and stones on our submerged feet Bringing with it from the deep seas its treasured contents The small coloured pebbles and marbles; the shells, shrimps and chills, The sharks and chalks; the turtles and startles; The sea-seals, sea-lions and sea-kills The crabs and the coral coated crustaceans’ skeletons It was a pleasure for our feet to be caressed and kissed By the salty sea tears of whales, sharks, turtles and fishes We watched with much delight the ripples the waves brought The splashes the speeding of our thrown stones created We counted the leaps, limps and jumps the skipping stones made And calculated the distances they run The distances further from us their throw travelled To return to the sad seas We would play and play with the young stones Our feet on her shallow waters submerged Kissed and caressed by the back-lashing waters of the waves Till the sun sunk and the mapped moon rose to conquer the night Watch the evening tides tall-taller-tallest get And the giant waves at the walls of the cliff reefs beat and break Urging the morale of surfers’ to get in and surf it And as if adhering to its seductive lures One after one dressed in bikini, wet-pants or swim kits They would start to plunge and splurge in, their boat-boards Into the ruffled lunges of the oceans, fearless To ride and glide wide, chasing the speeds of the tides and the waves Like fishes flap their fins of fingers to meet the tall walls of the waves Like frogs kicking their webbed feet to hide behind the tall spiral tides Like sharks and dolphins get drowned into the depths of the mavericks Like flying fishes leap into the thin airs in freestyles Leaving behind a trail of waters splashed and splurged We watched and fantasized of them urged By the sea surged Till it withdrew and back retreated And it was way past midnight when the sea surged Stalled
