SEASON FOR NONVIOLENCE Day 55 – RESPONSIBILITY - TopicsExpress

SEASON FOR NONVIOLENCE Day 55 – RESPONSIBILITY Response-Ability indicates we have the ability to respond to situations and circumstances in our lives. We sometimes have little or no control over what shows up in our lives, but we do have the ability to respond to what life brings in a myriad of ways that nurture and sustain us, that built character and feed our Bodies, Mind and Spirit. The quality of our lives and our communities starts with each of us. TODAY, take responsibility for the quality of your community wherever you are. Today, take Action! Do something that expresses a positive response to what life has brought you. Pick up trash that you did not make, offer assistance to a neighbor or passerby, calmly let another car in front of you on the freeway, clean the coffee pot or the counter top at your office. Respond to life by doing something unexpected - something that builds community and honors the dignity and worth of all. Relationships based on nonviolence are built on the ability to see and understand another human being, whether or not we agree. Seeing people from our common ground gives us practice for bringing nonviolent actions, choices and behaviors into our communal life. By focusing education and community action on attaining peace in the spirit of Gandhi and King, A Season for Nonviolence promotes the teaching that every person can move the world forward in the direction of peace through daily nonviolent choices and actions at home, at school, in the workplace and community. It is, therefore, the purpose of the Season and the following 64 Daily Practices to educate and inspire individuals and organizations alike to actively seek out nonviolent means by which to empower themselves and others to co-exist in peace and prosper together in community.
