SECTION 5 BASKETBALL Notre Dame 59 LeRoy 78 LeRoy Knights crush Notre Dame as the Rapone brothers face off for the first time this season Coach Rick Rapone says his LeRoy Knights are not as bad as their record indicates and he says his brother Mike Rapone, the Notre Dame Head Coach, has enough wins in his career. After a close 1st quarter, Rick Rapones Knights(2-6) exploded for 26 points in the second quarter to steal a big game from the Fighting Irish(4-2). The turning point in the game for the Irish was at the end of the first quarter when a 3 point buzzer beater shot from Josh Johnson was called back because time had run out. So with the score tied 16-16, the LeRoy Knights went to work in the 2nd quarter with momentum. Hitting almost all of their 3 point shots and racking up 26 points to Notre Dames 13. It was a deficit the Fighting Irish could not overcome. At the half LeRoys lead was 56-46 and that was as close as the Fighting Irish would get. Nick Egeling had 15 points, Kody Lamkin had 13, Ryan Boyce and Tom Kelso each had 11 points. Josh Johnson had 16 points for the Irish and Tyler Prospero had 12 and C.J. Suozzi finished the game with 8 points. The final score was 78-59. Notre Dame will play Wheatland Chili at home Wednesday and LeRoy will face Keshequa in Nunda on Tuesday night at 7p.m.
