SECURITY ALERT The University of Nairobi Security Department recognizes that the University of Nairobi community and members of public all share responsibility for both individuals and nation’s security, and should always be aware of the heightened risk of terrorist attack in Kenya and what they should do. In pursuant of the above and connection to an article in one of the Kenyan dailies- THE STAR on Friday 8, 2014 page 4, a suspect was arraigned in court to answer charges of being in possession of video and maps of some places and buildings within Nairobi. Among the maps he is alleged to have downloaded is one for Kenya Science Campus. University of Nairobi has been mentioned as terrorist target and going by the trend it should not be assumed as mere threats. The department has put in place measures to enhance security, among such measures are; searches to both vehicular and human, issuance of identification cards and surveillance by both security personnel and cctv cameras. It is therefore envisaged that you remember that security starts with individuals and as such you are hereby advised to be vigilant and corporate with security personnel when called upon as they endeavor to ensure your safety.
