SECURITY INTENSIFIED IN KYEGEGWA Following an attack on a congregation at the Mungumwema Pentecostal church in Mugoma parish, Apunyo Sub County, kyegegwa district, the Uganda police force has deployed strictly to secure the area and prevent further loss of life and properties. Last night at 02:00am as worshippers in the Pentecostal church were praying, they were attacked by an unknown people from a nearby mosque. The attackers had with them machetes and guns. one woman only identified as Beata was hacked to death as she sat in the church praying while several others sustained injuries. The area police was notified and they quickly responded to surround the mosque and arrest the attackers who had run back inside for cover. One attacker who was inside the mosque quickly opened fire on the police injuring and killing one officer identified as AIP Mwine Grace, attached to Kyegegwa police station. A team headed by the director operations in the Uganda police AIGP Grace Turyagumanawe is now in the area to arrest and prosecute the attackers, to establish their intentions and to ensure that this brutality is stopped henceforth. The team will be working very closely with sister security agencies such as the military, ISO, and other private security agencies.
