E-Mail - secy-tourism-bih Subject: Demand to reinstall the shops around the MahaBodhi Temple & steps to bring back the originality of Mahabodhi Temple and accountability of funds. Dear Sir, My name is Ilse Engel. I am a 72 years old german lady. Last year I was at Bodhgaya for 8 weeks. Many hours I spent on the lovely place in front of the great Maha Bodi Temple. There I had many interesting discussions with inhabitants and people from all over the world. I loved the atmosphere on the place. When I saw the place this year again, I was really disappointed. It is now only a place to walk through, no positive energy, no excitement, just like a dead burning ghat ! All the lovely colours have disappeared. What is to say about the bombing last year: It is just ridiculous. I did not talk to one single person from India and from abroad, who is not believing, that these fun-bombs were only used as an excuse for the unbelievable destruction of about 300 shops, that was planned from long time. The shops were destroyed without any warning. Owners lost between 60 and 100 percent of their furniture and material. And what happened to the shopkeepers? I talked with many of them, which I had met last year. They all told me the same things: Their new shops are somewhere, far away from the tourists and they do not any longer earn enough money, to survive. Many other shopkeepers could not afford to install a new shop. They are now sitting at home, begging and drinking. Families are starving. Children have no chance to go to school any longer. My request: the shopkeepers must get their shops around the temple back. They must get support from the government, to get back to their situation before the horrible, senseless destruction of their existential incomes. This is very important for the presence and for the future of the next generation. I am looking forward for your positive response after receiving this mail. Thanking you, Ilse Engel from Germany E-Mail ID - [email protected] NOTE – FOR SPEEDY ACTION I AM GIVING C.C TO FOLLOWING OFFICERS CM of Bihar > cmbihar-bih , Mahabodhi Temple Management > mahabodhi , Divisional Commissioner of Magadh > divcom-magadh-bih , Divisional Inspector General of Magadh > dig.magadh , Minister of Tourism of Bihar > Sunil Pintu , Director of World Heritage Site Director > k.rao , Chief Justice of India > SCI , Public Grievances Cell of India > [email protected], Archaeological Survey of India Director > “Director General ASI”
