SEEFOR: World Bank, Delta Engage 1,400 Youths THE World Bank in conjunction with the Delta State Government has engaged 1,400 youths in the state under its State Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR) programme for 2014. The State Coordinator of the programme, Mr. Benson Ojoko, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba. Ojoko said that the youths were engaged in road maintenance, clearing of drains, planting of trees/flowers and other jobs. He said that 400 of them were engaged in Asaba, the state capital while the rest1,000 were engaged in Warri, Udu, Uvwie, Sapele and Ughelli. According to him, the beneficiaries of the second batch of SEEFOR programme were being paid N20, 000 monthly stipends, adding that they would be engaged for 12 months. He said that the youths would also be enrolled in skill acquisition centres within the period to enable them become entrepreneurs. The coordinator said that at the end of the six-month entrepreneurship training, the beneficiaries would also be given starter packs to enable them become self-employed. He recalled that SEEFOR engaged 400 youths in similar labour and training programme in Asaba last year and were selected according to their special needs in addition to the size of their households and number of dependents.
