SEEK DAILY, Friday, January 17 Psalm 113 GOD LIFTS THE POOR AND NEEDY He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap. Psalm 113:7, NKJV People who cannot meet basic needs of life are often referred to as poor. This is however not true, considering that everyone on earth has one need or the other. Being poor and needy has a way of humbling people and bringing them closer to God. God cares and is ready to help because He is the source of all that humans need to survive! The ash heap refers to the unpleasant treatment that the outcasts are given. The unwanted poor, the diseased (Job 2:8) sometimes live in undesirable places like a refuse dump site. But God loves to visit the rejected and change their lives for good! This understanding greatly encouraged the Jewish remnant struggling to rebuild their nation and lives. God, in His love, has extended this same grace to us when He sent Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross. Do you think God has forgotten you in your lowly and helpless estate? No, He has not. You only need to look up to Him; then you will see Him working on and in your behalf. Be encouraged.
