SEEK DAILY (NBC) Monday, August 11 Psalm 71:17-24 ENDURING TROUBLES AND CALAMITIES Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again.... Psalm 71:20, NIV As Christians, one of our greatest strengths in the face of troubles and calamities is recounting God’s faithfulness in the past. David recalled how God gave him victory over wild animals, the intimidating Goliath and the power-drunk Saul. So, when the current challenges came, he had the fortitude to endure them, drawing from the faithfulness of God in the past. Reflect on what God has done in your life and family and you will also have reasons to declare His praise. Think about the battles He fought and won on your behalf. Had God not raised help for you, you would have died an illiterate! Beloved, His faithfulness over you in the past will give you courage to go through the present troubles. Like the psalmist, be confident in God that He can bring you out of your troubles and sour bitterness; and to deliver and restore you. In fact, God will also bring you out of them all, in great honour and comfort (v. 21). Hence, you will sing God’s praise (v. 22), shout for joy (v. 23), and declare the righteous acts of Him who has given you victory over your foes. So, trust God in your despondency and be not dismayed. Your salvation, deliverance and victory are sure (Psalm 34:19 and Job 23:10). • Birthday Blessing: “Thou shall guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.” Psalm 73:24 Read Bible Through Passage: Psalm 35-37; Romans 8:1-17 What we obtain too cheaply, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything value. - Thomas Paine.
