SEEK DAILY (NBC) Monday, August 19 Exodus 16:13-30 A SABBATH TO THE LORD He said to them, “this is what the Lord commanded, ‘tomorrow is to be a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.” Exodus 16:23, NIV Sabbath is the seventh day. It was recognised as a holy day by Israel before it was included in the Ten Commandments. On Sabbath, no manner of work must be done; the day was set apart for the worship of Yahweh. Israelites were told to remember the Sabbath day; they should not forget it, nor forget the day of preparation for it. Those who disobeyed and went out on Sabbath to seek for manna found none (v. 27). Disobedience, even in matters considered as small, is provoking to God. If walking out on the Sabbath to seek for food was reproved, then walking out on that day purely to find our own pleasure cannot be justified. God enjoins you to always remember that the Sabbath (now Sunday) is the Lord’s Day and it must be observed through worship and be kept holy. Read Bible Through Passage: Ps. 74-77; Rom. 14
