SEEK DAILY (NBC) Saturday, July 27 Mark 12:38-44 THE GIFT OF A POOR WIDOW “… I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.” Mark 12:43, NIV Jesus’ primary focus in the passage was not on giving but attitude towards giving. When Jesus said, “This poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others,” He was not in any way referring to the amount of money she gave, but to her attitude towards giving. This points to the fact that the value of a gift is not determined by its enormity, but by the spirit with which it is given. A gift given grudgingly or for recognition or human praise has no value. When you give, always remember that God is watching your motive and attitude. Your gift will not make God richer, but it could make you spiritually and physically richer. As a matter of fact, God does not need our gifts but we all need His to survive. Gifts of any kind must be pleasing to God to be acceptable to Him. Always endeavour to give with the right motive. Prayer Point: Pray for the right motive of giving that will be acceptable to God.
