SEEK DAILY (NBC), Sunday, January 4 Luke 11:1-13 LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY “…one of his disciples said to him, “Lord teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1, NIV I remember having had to teach a young girl how to cook some years back. The parents of the girl were an elderly couple I stayed with. During my stay with them, I had to help them in keeping the house, especially in cooking. One day, the father called to ask me to teach their young girl how to cook like I did. The disciples likewise have seen Jesus pray and wanted to be just like him. The mastery of prayer Christ demonstrated in words and action ignited a desire in them and they just wanted to learn. They got a tutorial on prayer that included Adoration; Confession; Thanksgiving; and Supplication (ACTS). Prayer, from the teaching of Jesus, has a pattern and a method. Any prayer that would get divine attention must follow this pattern. A prayer pattern where we bombard God with requests right from the beginning of our prayer till the end is not good. It is important that we worship and appreciate God for past mercies, ask for pardon for wrongs done and give Him thanks for what we are about to receive before tabling our new requests. Beloved, do you follow this pattern when you pray?
