SEEK DAILY (NBC) Sunday, June 16 Isaiah 29:9-16(a) HEARTS FAR FROM GOD “…this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me.” Isaiah 29:13, KJV Not long ago, a renowned preacher died and his death shook the Christian community, especially in the western part of Nigeria. More shocking, however, were the several dirty secrets unveiled about him after his death. Four different women showed up at his funeral with children they claimed they had for him. It was also reported that he was neck deep into rituals and that the secret behind the ‘miracles’ at his meetings were made possible by the rituals. This is just one of the many instances of people who profess to love and serve God but whose hearts are not in accordance with Him. The Israelites have several religious and spiritual words, which they use to profess their love for and reverence of Yahweh but their actions are the exact opposite of what they profess. You may be able to deceive men with your outward display of spirituality but “be not deceived, God cannot be mocked.” Examine your life today and align your heart with God.
