SEEK DAILY (NBC) Thursday, July 10 2 Peter 3:14-18 GROW IN GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ…. 2 Peter 3:18, NIV Apostle Peter, in our passage today, encourages Christians “to make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with God” (v. 14). A growing child of God who is heavenly conscious need not be bothered about the disagreement among Christians on the doctrine of eternal security. The doctrine of eternal security holds that once people are saved they are saved forever (no matter the sinful thing they do after). As children of God, we are expected to aspire to grow in the grace and knowledge of God. We are to live our daily lives with the consciousness of pleasing the Lord. Imagine that you are a parent whose 5 to 10 year-old child has refused to crawl, or even sit, let alone do what his or her contemporaries are doing. How would you feel? How do you think God is feeling seeing those with whom you became born again or those who became born again after you doing well and more matured spiritually than you? Friend, “be on your guard so that you may not… fall from your secured position. But ensure that you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ” (vs. 17b-18a).
