SEEK DAILY (NBC) Thursday, June 13 Jeremiah 13:1-11 REFUSING TO LISTEN “That they might be for me a people, for renown, for praise and for glory; but did not listen.” Jeremiah 13:11b, NIV God wanted the nation of Israel close to Himself, but they defiled themselves with idols and became “good for nothing.” Several warnings sent to them yielded no result. Instead, they grew from bad to worse thus provoking God to anger and incurring His wrath. Because of their refusal to listen, God determined to send them into captivity to humble and deliver them from their idolatry. Thus ruining the city and temple they were proud of. Bernard Edinger once said, “To entertain some people, all you have to do is, listen.” How true this holds in our relationship with God. Many atimes, when we are so preoccupied with diverse religious activities in the name of kingdom advancement, all that God requires of us is our attention even if for a few moment. Continual refusal to listen to the promptings and warnings of God will result in ultimate destruction. Is there any area you need to be more attentive or obedient to God? Work on it today and it shall be well with you. Prayer Point: Help me, Lord, to be more attentive and obedient to You.
