SEEK DAILY (Nigerian Baptist Convention) Tuesday, June 18 Psalm 19:7-14 THE GUIDANCE OF GOD “God’s laws are perfect. They protect us, make us wise and give us joy and light.” Psalm 19:7-8, LB Laws often appear to us as restrictions; hence, we tend to abhor them. When we act this way, we behave like the proverbial chick who grumbles at its mother for preventing it from going to feed on the dung hill. God’s laws are guidelines for our lives to be trouble-free and lights on our paths, rather than chains on our hands and feet. They point at dangers to warn us and then guide us toward the path of success. The psalmist remarked that God’s laws: convert us, make us wise, give us joy, enlighten our eyes, warn us and rewards our obedience. We can also say like the psalmist that the laws of God are “more precious than gold and sweeter than honey” (v. 10). God’s laws and all of His words revealed in the Scripture are good and life-giving. His Word directs, corrects, warns and restores us (2 Timothy 3:16-17); so, we should daily study and seek to know it better while striving always to live in obedience to its promptings and warnings.
