SEEK THE TRUTH, TRASH THE LIES ! One of the most persistent statement in some Singapore-hating people is this - Temasek has been losing money in investments. I look at what they have written in their blogs and FB, and easily conclude those people do not understand a single thing about economics, or business for that matter. An investor cannot always win because the global economy is never standing still. One day its up another day it may go down. So these obviously Government haters would always highlight their opinion that Temasek Holdings has been losing money all the time. Again their target is to really to encourage people to hate the Government. But these detractors are not telling the whole truth. Yes, Temasek has its fair share of investments that went wrong, this is not intentional, most were once profitable business that decline over time. You win some, you also expect to lose some when the world economy flips over. Ok, what these spreaders of bad news about Government dont want to let us know about is - Temasek Holdings total investments recently reach a record value of over S$216 billion. I cheer this good news because it means the country and Singaporeans will benefit from any gains made by Temasek. And that is important point for us to think about, and not to forget. Whatever money Government companies earn will ulitmately be distributed to Singaporeans in the form of subsidies, scholarships, bursaries, social help for the poor - and in other ways which I dont have the space to say it all. I think we have to check and verify whatever accusations that have been said against our country and Singapore Government. Only after carefully checking the information, can we form an accurate conclusion. We should always remember this - there are anti-country Singaporeans and jealous foreigners out there who want to see Singapore fail so that the Government will collapse as a result. We cannot allow them to succeed because everyone suffers if that happens.
