SEEKING CHICAGO TRIP-PLANNING ADVICE. ZirkusGrimm ends this Saturday night, and I promised Elsie Id take her somewhere (since we went to Iowa earlier this summer so that Gordon to see a concert). She chose Chicago. We are going on the Megabus and staying at Holiday Jones Hostel in Wicker Park. We are going to see a 1940s Cary Grant/Myrna Loy/Shirley Temple screwball comedy (The Bachelor & the Bobby Soxer) in Lincoln Park on Monday night and a production of A Midsummer Nights Dream in Riis Park on Tuesday night. The real motivation for the trip is that she has saved up her money (from babysitting, being a subject in a study at Riley, and feeding cats for vacationing friends) and wants a new American Girl doll to photograph. Any suggestions for some daytime fun (Monday, July 28-Wednesday, Juy 30) to take the edge off after the conspicuous consumer nightmare that is the American Girl Place? She wants to go to Chinatown and we saw that Tuesday is free admission day at the Contemporary Art Musuem. Please let me know if you have any ideas....she likes swimming, roller skating, comedy, music, theater, crafts.....
