SEIZURE OF 27 PACKETS OF CONTRABAND SUSPECTED TO BE HEROIN, APPROX 500 GRAM OPIUM, 02 PISTOL MAGAZINES, 42 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION, 02 PAKISTANI NOKIA MOBILES WITH 02 SIM BY BORDER SECURITY FORCE IN THE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY OF BORDER OUT POST KHANPUR, ABOHAR SECTOR Border Security Force personnel have successfully seized 27 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin, approx 500 gm Opium, 02 Pistol Magazines, 42 Rounds of ammunition, 02 Pakistani Nokia Mobiles with 02 SIM on Punjab border on 1st April 2014 in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Khanpur, Abohar Sector. 2. Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border from smuggling point of view, Shri Ajay Kumar Tomar, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to further strengthen border domination so as to effectively check the menace of narcotics smuggling and activities of Anti National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Sh A K Sharma, DIG Sector BSF Abohar has also issued necessary instructions to under command Units to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of smugglers /ANEs. 3. The troops were on high alert as inputs were received regarding threat of smuggling from the area of Border Out Post Khanpur. 4. On night intervening 31st March 2014 and 01st April 2014, BSF troops deployed in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Khanpur, Abohar Sector spotted suspicious movement near own side of Border Security Fence. Immediately BSF troops challenged the suspects but they did not pay any heed and continued with their aggressive posture. Accordingly BSF troops fired on them in self defence and to prevent smuggling attempt. However, the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of darkness. During search of the area 02 long belts of cloth tied together having 28 packets were recovered. Out of these 28 packets, 27 packets contain contraband suspected to be heroin and 01 packet having approx 500 gm Opium, 01 Pistol Magazine filled with 15 rounds, 20 loose rounds, 02 Pakistani Nokia mobiles with 02 SIM have been recovered near Border Security Fence at a distance of approx 100 mtrs from International Boundary in Indian territory:- (i) Contraband suspected to be heroin - 27 packets recovered from 02 long belts of cloth tied together (worth Rs. 135 Crores in International Market) (ii) Pistol Magazine - 02 Nos. (iii) Ammunition - 42 Rds (iv) Opium - 500 gms (v) Pak mobiles(Nokia) - 02 Nos (vi) Pak SIM - 02 Nos.
