SELF DEPRECATION Now heres a tale about a bloke And I do not intend to poke Fun, ridicule and mock someone Because of what they havent done. Youd think that after all these years Especially as old age nears This idiot would have a plan Of how to do the best he can. But sadly this is not the case. An also ran way off the pace. The front runners have reached the post, Hes close to giving up the ghost. His education passed him by. He didnt have the sense to try To study hard and knuckle down. He messed around and played the clown. An immature and silly fool Who wasted all his time at school. He wrongly thought he knew it all And set himself up for a fall. Fast forward to the present day, It disappoints me so to say, Things havent really changed as such. For he has not achieved that much. A downward spiral he is in. A war he feels he cannot win. It seems that life has passed him by. Where do his future prospects lie? He works towards an early grave, With little or no chance to save Some money for his older years. Hes scared as his retirement nears. No matter how hard this man tries Elusive is that final prize.
