SEMINAR ON RTI AND POLITICAL PARTIES (20 JUNE 2013 ) Punjab Election Watch (PEW) and Human Empowerment League of Punjab (HELP) are organizing a seminar on the implications of recent Judgement of the Central Information Commission declaring political parties as public authorities under RTI on 20 June 2011, at Press Club Jalandhar at 11:30 AM. Prof Jagdeep Chhokar, Founder Member Association for Democratic Reforms who also argued this case at the CIC as a lawyer for one of the petitioners will be present to address the gathering. S. Balwant Singh Khera who filed the first petition to declare political parties as public authorities in 2008 will also participate. Political parties are being requested to send their representatives for participation. Media as well as citizens are being invited to participate in the event. The objective of the seminar is to develop clarity and better understanding of the implications of this judgment for all stakeholders. YOU ARE REQUESTED TO ATTEND THE SEMINAR.
