SEPTEMBER 16, 2013 Trashing The Rangers It appears that former Rangers director and present blazer-chaser Paul Murray just can’t help putting his foot in it every time he opens his mouth. His latest quote that “My golf club is better run than Rangers” reveals how little he knows about both clubs. From the looks of things Paul Murray’s local golf club would appear to be Melrose Golf Club. Here is an excerpt from their website:- In common with most golf clubs in Scotland we have experienced a decline in member numbers and continual increases in operational expenses. Our full membership costs have remained unchanged since 2009, this is despite the club making an overall loss over the same period of £5,422 mainly due to the losses made in 2010. This year the club is unlikely to break-even and will have to rely once again on cash reserves to cover losses, therefore after five years of holding the full membership subscription and in order to stem losses made by the club, the committee has recommended an increase of £3 monthly, £36 per annum across all Full and OAP membership categories. Committee have also decided as of August 2013 the discounted OAP membership category will no longer be available to new members joining the club. The club will continue to offer these discounted categories to current members subscribed to our OAP categories for the duration of time a member remains at the club however any members currently on full membership will not be offered discounted OAP when they reach retirement age (ladies 60, Gents 65) I don’t think Rangers are in that bad a state quite yet. What is quite sickening about Murray and his cohorts is that Rangers being in a poor condition suits their plans. That doesn’t sit right with me. A Rangers going strong and run like clockwork would most definitely not be in the best interests of Murray and his fellow cuckoos. There’s something quite perverse about a situation where people are relying on things not going well at an institution they claim to love so that they can try to take control. Very distasteful if you ask me. It was good to see Keith Jackson admit he is in Paul Murray’s camp as he wrote another article trashing The Rangers. Trashing Rangers, as bluenoses know only too well, is what the Record thrives on. So it has been no surprise to find this paper as the vehicle of choice for the McColl faction. Birds of a feather, right enough… —————————- With Chelsea making a poor start to the season and both Manchester clubs looking unconvincing, could this be Arsenal’s year in the English Premiership? Both Arsenal and North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to prove themselves serious title contenders. Man Utd’s Ashley Young did himself no favours in the football world with two ridiculous dives, one of which conned the officials into giving his team a penalty. Maybe Young’s talent for diving could see him switch sports and try to make the Olympic team. The EPL has so far failed to ignite and fulfil its pre-season promise. This might be down to certain teams being a little reticent to buy and I can see this being rectified come the next window. billmcmurdo.wordpress/2013/09/16/trashing-the-rangers/
