SERIES 4- Strength in Relation to Performance is based on different types of Strength. Strength Training is generally considered as Resistance Training with Overload principle. In Functional Training we consider Strength Training is divided in 6 types.. Maximal strength, Absolute Strength, Explosive Strength, Relative Strength ,Concentric Strength and Eccentric Strength. Every Sports man requires one or more combination of these, to better their performance hence all Gymnasts , Sprinters, Swimmers will look lean and toned as they require RELATIVE STRENGTH , where as if you Compare a Shot-put, Hammer -throw, Wrestler he won’t look as lean and toned as a Gymnast as they require different Type of Strength training. More Muscle does not equate to better performance in all Sports. Aesthetics and performance are 2 different sides of the coin. The MUSCLE LOSS PHOBIA is a condition which is prevalent amongst most of the Gym Goers. It’s a condition where due to fear of muscle loss you do not explore fitness in totality. Remember that you DON’T have only 5 component for Evaluating Fitness, There is a Sixth component known as” SKILL” based component. Agility, Efficiency of movement, balance, reaction time, endurance training are equally important.
