SERIOUS ASSAULT - GLASGOW CITY CENTRE Police Scotland Officers are continuing enquiries and appealing for information after a 44 year-old woman was seriously assaulted in Glasgow City Centre on Friday 5 September 2014. Around 0300 hours on Friday morning, the 44 year-old woman was approached by a man in Holm Street near to Wellington Street who engaged her in conversation then seriously assaulted her. The woman was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she was treated for a serious facial injury then later released. The suspect is described as white, 5ft 9 in height with short fair hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top and jeans. Detective Inspector Craig Willison of Police Scotlands Greater Glasgow Division said today: This was a particularly violent assault on this woman and officers are continuing to work on this investigation and study CCTV footage in an effort to gather more information on the man responsible. I would urge anyone who was in the area of Holm Street and Wellington Street around the time of the attack, and who either witnessed the incident take place, or noticed anyone acting suspiciously to come forward. In particular, I would also like to speak to anyone who came to the injured womans assistance immediately after the attack as they may have information that is vital to this enquiry.
