SERMON FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 25TH 2013 SPEAKER: REV. MAXWELL TSATSU THEME: HEALING JESUS SERVICE Being a Healing Jesus Sunday and Service, the Head Pastor Reverend Maxwell Tsatsu brought to bear on the church the need to be a partner of the Healing Jesus Crusade in the overall fulfillment of the Great Commission. In line with this perspective, the church watched a documentary on the Healing Jesus Campaign in Sierra Leone, specifically in Kenema and the national capital of Freetown. The documentary brought to bear the capital intensive nature of such an enterprise and hence the need to be a partner. In fact it cost over a hundred thousand US dollars to organize just a single crusade. We saw how both the advance and the main team have to travel thousands of kilometers along terrible roads, rivers and mountains with 40 trucks, buses and cross-country vehicles all the way from Ghana to Sierra Leone carrying sophisticated and state-of –the art equipments for the campaign. Sierra Leone is a complete Moslem country unlike Ghana and the Bishop and his team had to risk their lives by going that far to win the lost for Christ. Sierra Leone, meaning “Lion Mountain” is a country with an estimated population of 6.3 million people and among the top diamond producing countries in the world. In a sharp contrast, however, 70% of its total population live in poverty as a result of the devastating civil war that rocked the country. The dreadful and atrocious civil war recorded 50,000 deaths with over 6,000 amputees. The campaign that was held at the national sports stadium in Freetown recorded hundreds of thousands in attendance with several thousands giving their lives to Christ. The stadium was so much full to capacity such that the people had to be allowed unto the field. They were given several books and other materials of the Bishop. The theme for the sermons preached by the Bishop include “The Narrow Way and the Broad Way”, “Remember Lot’s Wife”, “Except you Repent you will likewise Perish”, and “The House on a RocK” The Campaign was further moved into the Diamond City of Kenema that witnessed one of the most violent phases of the civil war. The campaign took place on an air strip since that was the only bigger place big enough to accommodate the thousands and indeed thousands gave their lives to Christ during the crusade that lasted for four days. The whole church applauded the Bishop and his team for such a mile stone and pledged to be partners in order to raise money for more souls to be won for Christ. In the final analyses, a total of 439,663 souls was won for Christ in Sierra Leone. Before leaving the country however, the Bishop paid a courtesy call on the President, prayed for him, and wished him well. Hence as you read this piece through whatever medium either through the print or the electronic media, you are entreated to be part of this worthy course in fulfillment of the Great Commission.
