SES flying supplies to stranded graziers after rains in far western NSW By Jacqueline Breen, Friday January 16, 2015 - 15:46 EDT Emergency services are flying supplies into properties isolated by flooding rains in New South Wales far west. Up to 350mm has fallen across the region in the past week. Ten stations north of Broken Hill have been cut off by flood waters. The SES is using a Rural Fire Service (RFS) helicopter to deliver supplies, with coordination help from the NSW Department of Primary Industries. At the Smithville dingo fence outpost, 220km north of Broken Hill, Donny Goodlet was looking forward to the visitors. Im hoping theyre bringing me some lollies and some treats for me old dog, he said. You just take it as it comes, mate. Theres really nothing you can get upset about because theres nothing you can do about it. SES volunteer Darren Larkin said the RFS chopper had flown in from Penrith, in Sydneys west, for the operation. Weve just been doing resupply, medical type things, food drops, [taking] fuel up to Packsaddle and getting some people back to their properties, he said. Back on the dingo fence, Mr Goodlet said he had found a good book with which to pass the time. [Its called] the Lives and Times of Serial Killers, he said. Some properties could be isolated for up to six weeks. - ABC
