SETBACK: The last 24 hours have been full of emotion. It started #ElectionDay about an hour before the polls closed. I stood at a busy intersection in Columbia looking for those #10Votes. The mother of the young man who was the subject of one of my attack ads saw me, stopped, and came to give me a hug to tell me she loved me. She thanked me for representing her son to the best of my ability, which I did and which I will never regret. She was sad, and I was sad for her. We both knew that it wasnt fair, but also knew that sometimes life isnt fair. Then, hours later--the polls closed. Although I lost the election, I am comforted in knowing I scored a victory in the column of life. My day today has been a normal day. I got up (after sleeping in and hugging my family again and again), put on a tie and went to the office. Ive been inundated by calls, texts, emails, thoughts and prayers. Your outpouring of support has been nothing short of remarkable. What could have been a dark day has been actually one of the best days Ive had in a long, long while. While I initially felt as though I let some folks down, I am as confident as ever that our campaign did much more than that--we charted a new course, a new way of doing things. We didnt come out on top, but we came awfully close. This is just a #setback, and weve all had them. When I was 9 years old, I didnt make the Little League Baseball team, so I played in the junior league, did well, hit a #homerun or two, and was given the opportunity to play Little League the next year. When I was an undergraduate at UT, I did not get accepted to law school there, which was particularly devastating because I was the sitting Student Body President. So, I accepted the offer to the University of Memphis where I made life long friends, some of whom even traveled to our watch party last night. For those of us who are disappointed with this #setback, or any #setback you might experience, may we all react in a way that sees a #setback as a challenge, and a challenge as an opportunity. Together, there is much we CAN accomplish and much we WILL accomplish. Tomorrow morning, I will be deactivating the #Molder4DA #Facebook campaign page. Its been a great ride, but its time to move forward. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, Liz thanks you and my kids thank you. The Molders are good. We are happy. And, we are ready for that next challenge and opportunity. Take a second to read Jeremiah 29:11. Its my favorite bible verse, especially in times of success and in #setback. I know that His plan will continue. The future is bright, lets do this! #YourFriend #ChazMolder
