SEVERE STORM UPDATE: As was previously stated last night Ireland and the Midlands is set to be battered by what has the potential to be one of the worst storms in years this coming Wednesday. A compact but rapidly developing area of low pressure is set to make its way north eastwards across the Atlantic over the course of today and will impact all areas tomorrow. The wind speeds from this storm have the potential to become violent with maximum gusts reach between 70 and 90 mph (110 to 150 kph). This storm is likely to cause some damage to buildings, uproot tress, and may cause travel and power disruption. All areas of counties Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath will be effected by this storm with the very strongest winds set to occur in exposed areas,or areas which are located on high ground. At present it looks as though the worst of the winds will begin to impact the Midlands at around 9 am tomorrow and will peak between 2 pm and 6 pm, before easing back by 9 pm. This storm really does have the potential to cause widespread damage given its forecast power and it is likely to be one of the worst storms to hit the Midlands in many years. Will keep you updated here at the Midland Weather Channel as the situation continues to develop, regards Cathal.
