SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR DAMAGING WIND FOR PARTS OF THE ILLAWARRA: Issued at 5:56 pm Monday, 13 October 2014. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. At 6pm the line of thunderstorms moving through Sydney is generally producing wind gusts of 60-70 km/h; however some gusts closer to 90 km/h cannot be ruled out. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep clear of fallen power lines. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW SES on 132 500.
