SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for HEAVY RAINFALL for people in the East Gippsland and parts of the North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts. (Issued 5.26pm 21/1/ 15) Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Bairnsdale, Maffra, Falls Creek, Mt Buller, Omeo and Orbost. The SES advises that rainfall run-off into waterways in recent fire affected areas may contain debris such as soil, ash, trees and rocks. People in fire affected areas should also be alert to the potential for landslide and debris across roads. Recent fire affected areas include the Yalmy, Brodribb and Timbarra rivers and the upper reaches of the Delegate River.
