SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN #8 FOR: TROPICAL DEPRESSION “#SeniangPH” TROPICAL CYCLONE: WARNING ISSUED AT 11:00 PM, 29 DECEMBER 2014 TROPICAL STORM “SENIANG” HAS WEAKENED INTO TROPICAL DEPRESSION AFTER IT MADE LANDFALL OVER ANDA, BOHOL. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 7.5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression. • Residents in low lying and mountainous areas of the provinces with PSWS#1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. • Ocean waves may reach up to 4 meters. • Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of northern and central Luzon and the eastern seaboard of southern Luzon, seaboards of Visayas and over the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao. • Public Storm Warning signals elsewhere are now lifted. • The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 AM tomorrow. Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression “SENIANG” was estimated based on all available data including Hinatuan and Cebu Doppler radars at 75 km Southeast of Mactan, Cebu City (9.8°N, 124.4°E). Strength: Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 11 kph. Forecast Positions: • 24 hour (Tomorrow evening): 170 km West Northwest of Dumaguete City. • 48 hour (Wednesday evening): 85 km South Southeast of Puerto Princesa City. • 72 hour (Thursday evening): 350 km Southwest of Puerto Princesa City. PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL PSWS#1(Winds of 30-60 kph is expected in at least 36 hrs) Visayas: Leyte, Southern Leyte, Camotes Island, Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Guimaras and Iloilo Mindanao: Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin Impacts of the wind • Twigs and branches of trees maybe broken • Some banana plants may tilt or land flat on the ground • Rice in flowering stage may suffer significant damage • Some nipa and cogon houses maybe partially unroofed • Sea travel of small sea crafts and fishing boats is risky These areas will have moderate to heavy rains with occasional gusty winds.
