SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN No. 9 Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm “#GorioPH” Issued at 11:00 PM, 29 June 2013 TROPICAL STORM “GORIO” has maintained its strength as it moves in a west northwest direction. Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “GORIO” was estimated based on all available data at 60 km Northeast of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro (13.6°N, 121.6°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 24 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “GORIO” is expected to be at 350 km Northwest of Metro Manila tomorrow evening. By Monday evening, it will be at 870 km Northwest of Metro Manila and it is out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR). Public Storm Warning Signal No.2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs): Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces including Lubang Island, Romblon Marinduque, Quezon Province, Camarines Provinces, Albay and Burias Island. Public Storm Warning Signal No.1 (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours): LUZON: La Union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Polillo Island, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao Island, Coron and Calamian Group of Islands. VISAYAS: Capiz, Aklan and Antique. • Public Storm Warning Signals elsewhere are now lowered. • Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. • The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 AM tomorrow.
