The pathetic condition of the flood victims is horrible to watch. Everything is underwater. A team of six members of Sewa Bharti two from Jammu and four from Kashmir unit visited almost all the flooded areas of Dist. Srinagar, Dist. Pulwama, Dist. Budgam, only which could be managed after hard efforts. Areas of Srinagar District namely Lasjan, Nowgam, Chhanpura, Nayak Bagh, Badshah Nagar, Hyderpura, Batmello are flooded and the worst villages are Lasjan, Nowgam villages which are almost under water. These areas are adjacent to river Jhelum. Our Sewa Bharti volunteers are engaged along with the villages committees in rescue operation bringing victims to the safer places. Then our Team visited Barzulla, Sanat Nagar, Pohroo, Goorpur, Sidiq bagh, Chakpura, Zanibagh, wagoora villages of Dist. Budgam. Our volunteers of Sewa Bharti in Dist. Budgam are engaged in rescue operation arranging meals for the victim men, women and children. Our Ekal Vidhalaya teachers in Budgam viz. Mehraj have prepared wooden log boats for rescue operations and sending eatables to the held up people on roof-tops. The worst hit villages are Goorpur, Pohru, Vagore, Chahpora villages of this district. Then thirdly our team visited villages of Dist. Pulwama namely: A) Malangpur, dedgampura, Larrikpura, Chhanpura, Gulzarpura, Reshipura, Dugarpura, B) Aglar, Vacchi, Zahidbeg, Balpora, Nyayar, Khantipora, Renzpura, Begpura The most hit villages are Reshipura, Pedgampura, Larikpura, Gulzarpura where the water has risen to almost 12 ft. to 32 ft. Even pucca houses are not spared to get demolished by floods. Our team of Ekal teachers Sewa Bharti has so far apart from doing rescue operations and helping villages some relief items like 50 Blankets, 150 breads, some medicines to each group of villages (A & B). As everybody was caught in unawares, flood didnt spare time to anybody to think what to do what not to do. Our volunteer of the Sewa Bharti with limited resources have done and are engaged day and night in doing a commendable job for the society and together with the society. After the floods will be over more resources are needed in different operations by our Sewa Bharti voluntary. Army has settled rescued victims to KVK Malangpura Complex, and our workers along with village committee arranged food and shelter for them. Ekal teachers of Sewa Bharti have started settling 10-12 persons flood victims and their personal houses especially womenfolk and children. There is a heavy loss to the field crops, fruit crops, and the detail of cattle mortalities cant accessed at this stage, which is beyond imagination. One more thing has come up during this flood that is the damage to grave yards where dead bodies may start floating in flood water, as reported by some villagers. The reports from the districts: Kwapwara, Baramulla, Kulgam, Gandarbal, and Anantnag are awaked due to total communication collapse.
