SHAB -E- MIRAJ --------------- --- About the celebration, I must point out that there is not a single Hadith or authentic narration certifying the popular belief about 27th Rajab being the date of me’raj. KHALIFS or SAHABAS did not celebrated or commemorated it at the time of prophet or after him. There are differences among scholars regarding the date, month and also the year of Me’raj. At worst, it would be a distortion of a date in history, if the date is not actually true. In Islam, the festivals are clearly defined and well established, and noadditions or subtractions may be accepted. They are an essential part of our worship and there is no room for ijtihaad or personal opinion. Theyhave been prescribed for us by Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). “And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers" [Aal ‘Imraan 3:85] “They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allah)…”[al-Taw bah 9:31]
