SHAME ON YOU TOM COYNE, MAYOR OF CITY OF BROOKPARK, OHIO In Summer of 1999, I bought a 24 units apartment building located 21930-52-74 Sheldon Rd., Brookpark, Ohio. The building was badly mismanaged and needed a make over. I was a young man 24 going on 25. I took tremendous amount of risk and invested every single penny I had along with borrowing from every sources one could imagine. After escrow, I did not even have a single dollar left in my name and could not even afford lunch. Within a few months, I had 100% occupancy along with renovations, which included putting in new windows for the entire building. I could easily take the money and enjoy a good life, but instead I invested right back into the building to better serve my clients. As a result, I had better tenants and of course better rent. After the renovations and a few months went by, I received a letter from the city stating that I did not take care of my building. The city sent me a few pictures of a few pop cans on my lawn along with a fine. I corrected the situation immediately and went as far as hiring a lady to walk around the lawn on a daily basis to pick up pop cans and whatever else. Please keep in mind, most properties in Ohio have big yard, especially with an apartment building. Well a week later, the same lady who came out to inspect the first time sent me another letter with another fine with some pictures of pop cans and such on the lawn. I arranged to meet her at my property with the intention of trying to resolve the matter. She was extremely rude to me and even made a racist comment on me. She vowed and threatened that she will be out every single day to take picture with whatever she can find and will take my stupid Chink ass to court. Needless to say, I was under tremendous amount of pressure and stress from being singled out. About a few weeks later, I again received another letter from the city stating that I have several violations and again included some pictures of some pop cans and some plastic bags on the property. I showed up in court with the Mayor, Tom Coyne as the judge because the city is rather small and did not have its own court. I was the only one in court along the Mayor, the inspector lady and a few of the Mayors assistances. I was being abused and humiliated and being made fun of. They claimed that I threatened the inspector lady and then threatened to lock me up. They were all laughing when they gave me a $1000 fine. A few months went by, I received another letter from the inspector stating that my building was in violation along with jail term and fine. The letter stated that I will face a judge and the judge will decide my fate with a 30 days jail term. I have never committed a crime all my life and here I faced a 30 days jail sentence for something that was NOT even true. I was so stressed and had to spend thousands on legal fees. Again a few months later, another letter stated that my building has a small hole with a few wires and a piece of metal object hanging out, which is a violation of the building codes. The inspector demanded that I cut the wires and filled up the hole. I did just that with my tenants there as my witnesses. A few hours went by, the temperature of the whole building plunged. My tenants bombarded me with calls complaining about being cold. They also called the city to complain. The inspector again came out immediately and again threatened to lock me up in jail for not providing heat for my tenants. I called an HVAC fellow out to see what was wrong with my boiler. He came out and did his work and told me that the boiler could not kick on BECAUSE there is no sensor and thermometer outside the building to tell the boiler when to kick the heat on. My tenants were all there. They could hear what the HVAC man said and witnesses everything that had happened to me. The inspector specifically had me cut off the sensor and the thermometer. Now the HVAC man said it will take a while to order those things in because they dont manufacture these things anymore. It has to be special order. Wow I immediately called the inspector along with many of my tenants. They were no longer upset with me but rather with the city. One of my tenant had a little baby and she threatened to sue the city if her baby died. Wow KARMA, well they immediately invited me to the city hall to talk to the chief inspector. There I laid down all my cards and told him exactly what had been going on. Of course he defended the city actions, but promised that they will leave me alone as long as, I calmed my tenants down and fixed the problem as early as I could. I demanded that the city pay for the repairs. Obviously they refused. I got it fixed and they left me alone. A few years later, I sold the building and then I heard the news that TOM COYNE was running for US CONGRESS. Then a few months later, the police and media found him laying naked on the street while high on COCAINE and DRUNK. He got arrested and put in jail from cocaine use, driving under the influence, violation of his parole, corruptions. His political career was supposed to be over. But then a few days ago, I read on the news that he ran for Mayor of City of Brookpark again and he got elected again and he had may of his cronies worked for him again. That is such an ashame. I have had enough of these people in offices who are power abusive and corrupted by nature. It is time for the whole world to know and I am determined to NEVER let this happen to me again.
