*****************SHARE PLEASE SHARE PLEASE************* Do Not Drink/Limited Contact Notice Lifted for Buffalo, Frazier’s Bottom and Pliny Customers Second round of sampling verifies “No Detection” results from all samples taken in parts per million BUFFALO, W.Va. (January 18, 2014) – The advisory has been lifted for customers in the town of Buffalo, Frazier’s Bottom and Pliny that were directed yesterday morning to not drink and have limited contact with their water following the determination that additional flushing and sampling was needed. Results from all 11 samples taken yesterday in these three areas indicate “No Detect” levels in parts per million. As previously stated, one water sample taken at a fire hydrant at the end of a 16-inch water main in Buffalo indicated a split sample result with one reading above 1 ppm and one reading below 1 ppm. To exercise the utmost caution, crews conducted additional flushing in the area yesterday. The interagency team has been sampling at the plant at both the parts per million (ppm) and parts per billion (ppb) levels throughout this process to ensure the highest level of confidence in the system. In light of the CDC’s additional guidance Wednesday night related to the abundance of caution for pregnant women and to ensure the highest level of public health, West Virginia American Water will continue to test the system at the parts per billion level to ensure non-detectable levels in the water.
