SHARING IDEAS Marian Baltazar class of 1980, University of the Philippines College of Manila AB Political Science The world is filled with intelligent people and the more there is the reason for sharing ideas with each other. We have all been doing this since we became students and largely when we worked as individuals, taking tests and competing grades with one another too. With more intelligent people come more innovative ideas and that is why no two people are alike. If every person is very much willing to share and exchange his ideas, then there will be multiplication of ideas. When this happens it brings about innovations and solutions. When you work as a team, definitely teamwork is not only the laudable goal but it is also a required skill. With a lot of influences that a kid gets in a day, it allows them to work and think alone but of course there is no musician, artist or writer who had their remarkable achievements on their own. Kids turn out to be great even when they have grown up too and this is also because of those people whose works and mastery on their craft has served as their basis of studies which led to their great works at present. Oftentimes, sharing ideas teaches and reinforce good social skills. Therefore, sharing ideas bring about broad-based positive reinforcement which helps kids attain self-confidence and self-esteem. As it turns out, there are a lot times that kids become better than their peers. Sharing ideas help them boost their morale. There are actually a lot of ways when you can make your kids share ideas. You can show them a lot of magazines, books or anything that is very closely related to whatever they are up to or whatever they undertake. They also become teachers as well and become inspiration to others. You can start sharing your ideas at home and work, or maybe with a family or a friend. It can maybe even start on a simple discussion in a school, in your group or social community, or also in a church. Whatever it is or whatever it maybe, the most important thing is to build the habit of sharing ideas to others and fighting the idea of just keeping things to yourself. The fact remains that even you are the most intelligent person that you may know, there is no way that you can know it all. Even the non-intelligent people that we may know of can come up with good ideas once in a while. As the most renowned George Bernard Shaw put it, “If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still have each one apple. But if you have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” It is definite that ideas multiply when you share them so why don’t you start sharing your ideas today? Questions for discussion: 1. Do you have a lot of ideas that flood your mind? What do you do with them? 2. Do you think that sharing ideas with one another is a very intelligent action? Why? 3. Do you usually share your thoughts to your peers or do you just merely keep it to yourself? Why or why not? 4. How often do you share your ideas with other people? Explain your answer. 5. Can you tell us why sharing ideas can be a very intelligent move? "SHARE LOVE SHARE KNOWLEDGE" iotsonline .
